Your choice of table makes a difference

That the environment cannot wait for us to act for improvement is probably something we can all agree on, but what should we do? It is easy to feel helpless in the face of something as extensive and overwhelming as climate change.

See our sub-goals

Your choice of table makes a difference

We have chosen to do what we see we can do at present, further educate ourselves and constantly increase our ambitions to do more, both now and in the long run. At Lundbergs Möbler, we welcome change that leads to improvement. Therefore, in this work, we are based on the UN's Agenda 2030, which aims to achieve the 1.5-degree target by 2030. To succeed in that, we must work purposefully and measurably. We must expect that it is work that changes over time and be flexible.

Our goal by summer 2024 is to make an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) to obtain life cycle analyses on all our tables. In this way, we find out where we can make improvements that make a difference for the environment and start a concrete action plan on how we should continue the work to reduce our negative impact and increase our positive impact. We make sure your choice of table makes a difference!

A better world

With reusable furniture, we contribute concretely to the 2030 goal

2020

Transparent environmental reporting

In 2020, we developed a transparent environmental report that allows the end customer to make an active choice.
Create clear guidelines for how product development should contribute to reusable tables with a high classification level. All the electricity we buy comes from 100% renewable sources.

2021

Reduced metal by 20%

In 2021, we declared more tables from the collection with Möbelfakta. We created a clear service for reconditioning that is brand-independent. We reduced the metal by 20% in the pedestal table John. We developed clear disassembly manuals to promote the reuse of our products.

2022

Impact on the environment

In 2022, we started a review of our company's impact on the environment. It will form the basis when we, in numbers, set the goal of how much we should reduce our emissions to contribute to reaching the 1.5-degree goal by 2030. Based on this, we will design our action plan in 2024.
We redesigned our old table models so that all fittings now use ramp nuts and screw bolts in the leg and top attachment. This facilitates future replacement of spare parts and reconditioning.

2023

Better Circularity

We developed a more detailed environmental report and started working on EPDs for our tables. We began redesigning the pedestal tables Jim and John for better circularity and contributed to the development of sustainability labels for furniture. We created a sustainable color palette and a wooden cable channel to reduce metal usage. We tested a new lacquer that improves the lifespan of the tables and reduced electricity consumption by 10% and heating by 9%.

2024

EPD Declaration

We developed an EPD declaration that shows the environmental impact over the lifecycle for all table families. Presented the development of the pedestal table family John where the design for height 730 and pedestal base D600 is excellent for reconditioning. We also reduced metal usage in the stand. Began developing an innovative way to guide our customers to sustainable choices for tables.

2025

Sustainable and Circular Table Solutions

Develop a concrete work plan to reduce our emissions as shown by the EPD and start the work plan. The pedestal table Jim and the remaining tables in the John family should be developed in construction to be excellent for reconditioning and circularity. Continue developing an innovative way to guide our customers to sustainable and circular table solutions.

Our Table Philosophy

Divided into 10 Points

  • Our furniture design should be timeless, not trendy.

  • Our tables and chairs should be declared with Möbelfakta and have LCA/EPD declaring CO2 impact no later than 12 months after launch

  • The components of the table should be easy to separate and disassemble/reassemble without losing stability.

  • Our tables should be easy to circulate through re:design, reconditioning, and reuse.

  • It's easy to access and replace spare parts. We provide a 10-year spare parts guarantee

  • The core of the table is always plywood to allow the top to be reshaped in a circular furniture flow.

  • The table's edge bands are solid, overlaid, and 6-10 mm thick to protect the tabletop and be part of a circular furniture flow.

  • We use thick veneer, at least 1.5 mm thick, which is resandable

  • Our tables should have a clearance from the floor to the underside of the top of at least 700 mm. This is so that our tables are accessible even for wheelchair users

  • Long-term good table solutions are more important than selling one more table.

Long Life

CO2 Calculation

Reporting a product's climate impact is a natural part of our sustainability work. Since we have developed EPDs for all table families, we can now report the climate impact – from cradle to grave – for all our table variants.

On the family page, you can see how much a table model emits per kg product. This is to easily compare the impact of our products.

On each collection page, you will find climate data under the section Emissions, Sustainability Labels, and Agreements. It is part of our strive to be transparent and to create conditions for improvements over time. By measuring CO₂ emissions throughout the lifecycle, we see more clearly where we can reduce impact.

Assembly & disassembly of our furniture

In our work with refurbishing furniture, we have learned that the degree of disassembly is crucial for the longevity of the furniture. It affects the possibility of repair and refurbishment as well as its potential to become part of the circular furniture flow. Since 2018, we have required that all new furniture we develop must be designed in a way that enables future refurbishment and reuse.

On the product pages, you will find both assembly and disassembly instructions for each product.

Refurbishment

With our environmental goal in focus, that we should do our part to achieve a maximum 1.5-degree warming, we are now launching our refurbishment services. Not only for our own models but brand-independent. With our own models, the goal is to offer a circular furniture ownership where we help extend the life of the furniture through good maintenance advice, spare parts, and refurbishment. Our undertaking of other brands' tables and chairs is to facilitate the coordination between existing furniture and new furniture in an interior design project.

Materials for sustainable furniture

To get the function and feel you are looking for in your table or chair, it depends on the materials. Perhaps it's the environment where the table will be placed that requires a durable surface that is easy to clean, like HT laminate. Maybe you're looking for the tactile, sound-dampening properties of DT linoleum. Maybe the chair can stand out with a color that deviates from the rest of the interior. Or perhaps Artigo Kayar is the surface material for you, the floor that ended up on the table.

Maintain your table

Just as materials suit different contexts, they also require different forms of care. By maintaining the tables and chairs regularly, you increase their lifespan and thus contribute to a more sustainable future and facilitate future refurbishments.

Earth to table

Reusable furniture

To produce reusable furniture with long-term durability, raw materials and construction are paramount. We choose materials and construction for our products with care, both for people and the environment. Extracting new raw materials entails a responsibility to manage the resources that have been utilized, something we take seriously. For us, this means designing and manufacturing wooden furniture with the ambition that they have a long life. By this, we mean that the tables and chairs are not only designed and produced to last over time but also to be able to have new lives with the hope of never being decommissioned.

CIRCULAR FURNITURE FLOW

Sustainability

Our tables are developed to be part of a circular economy.
The furniture is tested according to Möbelfakta's sustainability requirements:
social, economic, and ecological.
Within a year of launching a new product, we aim to develop an EPD
to understand what we can do to reduce CO₂ emissions and climate impact.
