Care Instructions Wood Tables & Chairs

We manufacture furniture with the ambition that they will have a long life. With your care and maintenance of the furniture, we help create a slightly more circular furniture industry. If your furniture is in such a condition that care instructions do not help, or if you want to update them, you can always use our reconditioning service.

Care Gives Furniture a Long Life

Veneer

Wood is a living material that is affected by the temperature changes of the seasons and indoor climate. Both the wood and the surface treatment mature and cure over time, which means the table requires extra care during the first weeks.

To avoid uneven color changes, the table top should be evenly exposed to light and not covered by objects for extended periods. Heat can damage the wood and cause burn marks or cracks, so always use coasters to protect the surface from hot pots, coffee cups, and tealights.

Lacquered Surface

The lacquer seals the veneer and provides a protective layer that extends the life of the table. Wipe up spills immediately to avoid stains. Clean with a damp cloth and, if necessary, a solution of 1/10 hand dish soap or soap in water. Always wipe with a dry cloth afterward to prevent water stains.

Hardwax Oiled Surface

Gives the wood a natural protection and a soft feel. For daily cleaning, it is enough to wipe the table with a lightly dampened cloth, followed by a dry cloth. For more stubborn stains, gently dab with a solution of 1/10 soap and water – avoid rubbing, as this can create glossy spots.

For tables with a waxed surface, we recommend applying a new layer of wax once a year or as needed. We recommend OSMO hardwax 3062 for the best protection and durability.

After 10 Years

All our tables have a core of birch plywood, which allows them to be adapted over time – for example, a rectangular top can be reshaped into a round one to extend the table's lifespan. Since we always use thick veneer in our wooden table tops, they can also be sanded to restore the surface. We recommend a sanding of 0.2 mm, followed by a new surface treatment.

Linoleum

Furniture linoleum, also known as Desktop, is a natural material that provides a warm and tactile feel, while also having several advantageous properties. Linoleum is sound-dampening, antistatic, antibacterial, and has a self-healing ability for minor scratches.

To preserve these properties, we do not lacquer the linoleum we apply to our tables, as a lacquered surface would impair several of its natural advantages.

Linoleum is also a CO₂-neutral product, meaning the raw material binds more carbon dioxide than is released during the manufacturing process. In this way, linoleum continues to bind carbon dioxide throughout its lifetime, contributing to a more sustainable environment.

Often

Since linoleum is sensitive to moisture, spills should be wiped up immediately to avoid stains. Clean the surface with a damp cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner, such as gall soap or green soap. Always wipe with a dry cloth afterward to prevent watermarks.

Seldom

To preserve the table's protective surface, a new surface treatment should be applied annually or as needed. We recommend OSMO hardwax, a completely transparent treatment that preserves the natural properties of linoleum.

After 10 Years...

If the linoleum surface has received scratches or other damage, the surface can be sanded, as Desktop Linoleum behaves like a wooden surface. Since all our tables have a core of birch plywood, we can reshape them so that a rectangular top can become round for a longer life. If you need help sanding and re-treating the surface, you can use our reconditioning service.

High-Pressure Laminate

HT laminate, also known as HP laminate, is a durable panel material consisting of several layers of paper pressed together under high pressure. A surface is applied on top of the board, allowing for creativity in terms of color and pattern.

High-pressure laminate has a sleek appearance and is both impact-resistant, water-resistant, and chemical-resistant. For surfaces frequently cleaned with high-alcohol disinfectants (70% or more) or alkaline substances, HT laminate or nanolaminate is recommended.

Additionally, HT laminate is resistant to color fading, stain-resistant, and has a long lifespan, making it a practical and functional choice for heavily used environments.

CARE ADVICE

Regularly wipe the surface with lukewarm water. For stains, a mild hand dishwashing detergent can be used, and for ingrained stains, a dish brush can be used with gentle scrubbing. High-pressure laminate requires minimal maintenance and generally only needs to be cleaned with lukewarm water and hand dishwashing detergent as needed.

AFTER 10 YEARS

High-pressure laminate is a durable material that retains its quality over time as long as the surface remains intact. If the laminate gets scratches or damage that breaks the hard surface, unfortunately, it cannot be repaired, and the alternatives are either to replace the board or let the damage become part of the table's history.

If the damage is at or near the edge, there is an opportunity to re-mill the edge or reduce the tabletop by sawing. We can assist with this through our reconditioning service.

Nano Laminate

The super matte laminate, also known as Fenix laminate or nano laminate, is an innovative material with advanced manufacturing technology. Through nanotechnology, an extremely matte and silky surface is created that is resistant to fingerprints and stains.

One of the main features of Fenix laminate is its extremely smooth and pore-free surface, which has fewer pores than traditional high-pressure laminate (HP laminate). This makes nano laminate the best choice for environments with the highest hygiene and disinfection demands, as the surface effectively minimizes the risk of dirt and bacteria sticking. The material is also water-repellent and chemical-resistant, making it well-suited for regular cleaning and disinfection.

Kayar

The floor that ended up on the table – Artigo Kayar is a durable rubber floor developed for public environments and contains coconut fiber, giving it a unique character. The surface has a solid-colored base where the natural coconut fibers create a subtle and lively expression.

The material is as durable as a floor adapted for public environments and also has sound-dampening properties, contributing to a pleasant sound level. A sustainable and exciting material choice with an unexpected twist!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Wipe the table with a damp cloth and remove stains immediately to prevent them from penetrating the rubber and leaving permanent marks. Use a neutral or mildly alkaline cleaner with pH 7–8, ensuring it is approved for rubber floors. Always rinse thoroughly with water after cleaning.

AFTER 10 YEARS

Kayar is a durable material with a long lifespan, but it cannot be sanded to renew the surface. However, the table can be given a new shape, thanks to the plywood core in all our tabletops. If you need help with this, our reconditioning service is at your disposal.
